The men began their quest for a third straight WAC title with two tough matchups last weekend against Arizona State and No. 15 Arizona. GCU lost both matches 7-0 but head coach
Greg Prudhomme saw impressive play from all courts. Newcomer
Martim Marujo pushed his single match against ASU to three sets after joining the team at the start of January.
Against the Wildcats, graduate student
Freddie Grant regrouped in his singles match after dropping the first set 0-6 to win the second set 7-6.
The women had to wait an extra week to take the courts this semester due to their season opener at Arizona State being postpone and rescheduled to a later date. At Cal State Fullerton the Lopes will get the benefit of playing multiple teams across the three-day event in both singles and double to prepare them for their first dual match on Feb. 4 at UC Irvine.
