RENO, Nev. – Grand Canyon closed its regular season with a tightly contested 4-3 loss at Nevada on Friday afternoon at the McArthur Tennis Center, with the dual coming down to the final singles courts.
The Lopes opened strong by securing the doubles point with wins on Courts 1 and 3. Freshman
Tristan Berard and sophomore
Andreas Loizas battled to a 7-5 victory at the top spot, while junior
Brice Patoux and freshman
Heremana Courte added a decisive 6-2 win at Court 3 to give GCU the early 1-0 lead.
Nevada answered in singles, taking the first two completed at Courts 6 and 1 before extending its lead with a straight-set win on Court 2.

GCU stayed within striking distance thanks to junior
Charlie Pade's 6-2, 6-3 win on Court 6 and Loiza's 6-4, 6-2 victory at Court 3 evening the match late in the afternoon.
The dual ultimately came down to the final two courts, where Nevada pulled out a pair of three-set victories at Court 5 and 4 to secure the 4-3 result.
GCU finishes the regular season at 18-5 overall. The Lopes will wait for the Mountain West Tennis Championships bracket to come out to see who they will take on in Las Vegas, Nevada the upcoming week.
