RENO, Nev. – Grand Canyon closed its regular season with a tightly contested 4-3 loss at Nevada on Friday at McArthur Tennis Center, with the dual coming down to the final singles court.
The Lopes opened strong by securing the doubles point with wins on Courts 1 and 3. Freshman

Andreas Loizas battled to a 7-5 victory at the top spot, while junior

Heremana Courte added a decisive 6-2 win at Court 3 to give GCU a 1-0 lead.

Charlie Pade's 6-2, 6-3 win on Court 6 put the Lopes ahead 2-0, but Nevada answered in singles with straight-set wins on Courts 1 and 2.

Loizas put the Lopes back to front with a 6-4, 6-2 victory at Court 3.
The dual ultimately came down to the final two courts, where Nevada pulled out a pair of three-set victories at Courts 5 and 4 to secure the 4-3 result.
GCU finishes the regular season at 18-5 and will be the No. 5 seed at this week's Mountain West Championship in Las Vegas, where it will play No. 4 seed and host UNLV in the first round Wednesday.
