LAS VEGAS — Grand Canyon opens play at the Mountain West Championship on Wednesday as the No. 5 seed, facing No. 4 seed and host UNLV at 5 p.m. at Darling Tennis Center.
After finishing the regular season with an impressive 18-5 record, the Lopes enter the postseason looking to build on a competitive Mountain West regular season in their first year in the conference.
As the No. 5 seed, GCU will need to win three matches in three days to claim the conference's automatic NCAA Tournament bid, beginning with a matchup against the Rebels.
Earlier this season, the Lopes fell to UNLV in Las Vegas and are looking to turn that around. If GCU defeats the Rebels, it will be meet either No. 1 seed Utah State or No. 8 seed Nevada in a Thursday semifinal.
The Mountain West Championship runs through Friday in Las Vegas, when the championship dual will be played at 5 p.m. All matches will be streamed on Mountain West Network.
