Inventory Control
Inventory controls are important in preventing loss and theft of athletic equipment. Equipment is given out under the supervision of certified equipment managers only. ACS Inventory software system is used to keep the inventory up to date and ready to be analyzed.
Security
Athletic equipment is stored in the athletic equipment room. Entry is limited to assigned personnel. Dual SpaceSaver units are used to house and secure all on-hand inventory.
Embellishment
All gear embellishment will be completed through Canyon Promotions and all equipment staff members will ensure GCU brand standards are followed and maintained through the entire process.
Laundry
One of the main aspects of athletic equipment management is prevention of the spread of bacteria and disease. Laundry chemicals and settings are programmed in the washing machines to kill and prevent these hazards. There are specific cycles programmed for each circumstance of laundry (i.e. Game laundry, practice laundry, towels, etc.). Industrial machines and chemicals assist staff members in the sanitation process.
Fitting
All fitting of safety equipment must be done by or under the guidance of a certified athletic equipment manager. This is to ensure proper fitting methods are being used.
Maintenance
Athletic equipment will be inspected and cleaned weekly. Defective products will be replaced to ensure athlete safety.
Reconditioning
All equipment is to be sent back and recertified to NOCSAE standards yearly if used. If the equipment is not used it will be sent back following the year of use. When sent back for reconditioning the equipment will be impact tested, cleaned, and painted.
