SAN DIEGO — No. 69 Grand Canyon continued its strong late-season form Saturday with a 4-1 win at San Diego State, opening the match by claiming the doubles point before winning three of the first four completed singles courts.
GCU sophomores
Tristan Berard and
Andreas Loizas opened with a 6-2 doubles win before junior
Brice Patoux and sophomore
Daniel Jankoski clinched the doubles point 6-4.
Both Lopes duos have 11 doubles wins on the season.
In singles, Patoux doubled the GCU lead to 2-0 with a dominant 6-1, 6-2 victory on Court 5, and junior
Charlie Pade quickly made it 3-0 with a 6-1, 6-4 win on Court 6.
This would be Patoux's 17th singles win of the season while Pade moved to an impressive 12-1 record.
After SDSU answered at No. 2 singles, Loizas delivered the clinching point in comeback fashion on Court 3, rallying for a 4-6, 6-3, 6-4 win to seal the 4-1 team victory.
