"It was definitely a really tough match, especially mentally after you play a whole week of matches," Loizas told MW+. "You have to stay in as much as you can. You have to stay positive. That's what I did well, and then I gave myself a chance to come around and win the third set."Â
Jankowski and Pade defeated teammates
Calin Apostol, a freshman from Romania, and
Heremana Courte, a sophomore from New Caledonia, in the all-Lopes doubles final. After dropping the first set 6-4, Jankowski and Pade bounced back for a 6-2 win in the second set.
"I think we got off to a pretty slow start, but the boys on our team played pretty well," Jankowski told MW+. "We were just telling ourselves, 'Just keep playing solid. If they keep it up for two hours, it's too good.' Eventually, it turned out in our favor."
Paded added to MW+, "It was pretty cool to play a couple of good mates and fellow teammates. We had trained together played doubles points together all the time. The energy's always good in training, and today was the same."
