The Grand Canyon men's and women's tennis teams will compete in fall tournaments this weekend in Southern California.
Following a week off, the GCU men will travel to San Diego State for the Aztec Fall Invitational on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The women, who competed last weekend at San Diego State, the women will play Friday through Sunday at Long Beach State's Beach Tennis Tournament.
The men last played Sept. 21-23 in the Wildcat Invitational at Arizona, where they captured two singles championships and a doubles championship. Lopes senior
Mathieu Rajaonah went 4-0 in singles and won the top flight with a 6-3, 6-7 (7), 6-2 final win over Kyryll Kryvchun of Mesa Community College. Freshman
Jakub Novak impressed in his GCU debut, capturing a singles title with wins over competitors from Arizona, New Mexico State and Northern Arizona.
Novak's work wasn't done, as he teamed up with junior
Valentin Lang and captured the top doubles flight with a 6-3 win over a Boise State pair in the final. The GCU duo was named WAC Doubles Players of the Month for September.

Lorenzo Fucile will compete with the men's squad for the first time this season. He was invited to play individually last month in the ITA Masters, where he won a singles match in the consolation bracket.
Last weekend, the women's team started slowly but regrouped for a solid finish. Lopes junior

Celia Morel to win a doubles consolation bracket.
