The Grand Canyon women's golf team heads to the Huntsville Toyota Bearkat Invitational at the Elkins Lake Country Club in Huntsville, TX. The invitational will have two rounds with the first starting on Monday, September 27 at 7:30 a.m. (Phoenix time)Â
THREE THINGS TO KNOW
- SEVEN WAC TEAMS: The Lopes will get to square off with six WAC teams for the first time this season including three new WAC opponents in Sam Houston, Lamar and Stephen F Austin. Other WAC schools at the Invitational will be CBU, Tarleton and UTRGV.
- SENIORS STANDOUT:Â Â GCU travels three seniors for the second weekend in a row. Seniors, Siripatsorn Patchana, Payton Fehringer and Alexis Linam look to lead the Lopes to a top finish in the 13-team tournament. Patchana finished a team best
- TOP TEAM: Host team Sam Houston is the first team this season that the Lopes have competed against that are receiving votes in the Women's Golf Coaches Association poll.
BEARKAT INVITATIONAL
Participating teams in the Bearkat Invitational will be GCU, Bowling Green State, California Baptist, Incarnate Word, Houston Baptist, Lamar, Stephen F. Austin, Tarleton, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, ULM, UT Arlington, UTEP, and UTRGV. The 13-team invitational will consist of 72 individual golfers. Each team will compete in two rounds with the first round taking place on Sept. 27 at 7:30 a.m. (Phoenix time).
LAST TIME OUTÂ
GCU finished eighth out of 12 at the Badger Invitational on Sept. 17-19. As a team, the Lopes scored 31 over par in three rounds with their best combined score coming on the first day of the 12-team invitational. The top eight teams were separated by 20 strokes with GCU finishing six back of the 12-team tournament's top half.

WHAT'S NEXT
The Lopes will head to Highlands Ranch, Colo. for the Ron Moore Women's Intercollegiate on Oct. 8-10.
