i – Grand Canyon finished the third and final round in 12th place at the 19-team Rainbow Wahine Invitational at Ocean Course Hokuala in Kaua'i on Wednesday.
GCU totaled a 54-hole score of 22 over par, finishing third best out of five Mountain West teams that competed. Baylor won the tournament at 14 under, 10 strokes better than runners-up Santa Clara and Missouri.
The Lopes shot 8 over in Wednesday's final round after earlier 2-over and 12-over rounds.
GCU freshman
Alexis Vakasiuola led the Lopes, tying for 26th place. Vakasiuola carded an even score in the third round and finished 3 over for the tournament. She shot 1 over on the back nine and 1 under on the front with four birdies, including two over her first five holes.
Sophomore
Allie Justiz carded the most birdies of any Lope in any round Wednesday, moving up 10 spots to finish 47th at 8 over. Justiz climbed 33 spots since Monday's first round. Her day finished with three birdies over her final six holes.
GCU freshman
Clara Duerr and junior
Lena Tremouille tied for 54th at 9 over. Tremouille parred 14 holes Wednesday and added one birdie. Junior teammate
Jess Haines placed 77th at 13 over for the tournament.
The Lpoes shot 11 under on par-five holes in the tournament, eighth best among 19 teams. Tremoulle's par count Wednesday put her at 40 for the tournament, tying her for fifth most among 112 golfers.
GCU concludes the fall season next week in Boulder City, Nevada, at the Clash at Boulder Creek. The two-day tournament starts Monday at the Boulder Creek Country Club.
