Alexis Vakasiuola ended her third and final round of the Alice and John Wallce Women's Golf Classic with 5 birdies and a 4 under scorecard to propel her to second place out of 96 golfers at Monterey Country Club in Palm Desert, California.
FINAL RESULTS
Vakasiuola was nearly bogey free over her final 18 holes Saturday, totaling five birdies, 12 pars just to one bogey to shoot 67 on the day. Her final round 67 matched her first round exactly and she finished the tournament 6 under, one of three golfers to go under par for the tournament.
Vakasiuola finished better than many nationally ranked players via the Clippd Scoreboard Rankings and placed only behind Catherine Park of USC, who came in ranked No. 38 in the nation.
Grand Canyon as a team finished 11th out of 16 schools, going 48 over in total. No. 2 USC was the only team to go under par over 54 holes, winning the tournament at 17 under. No. 33 Eastern Michigan placed second at 9 over, followed by No. 11 UCLA at 18 over.
The Lopes shot 11 over in Monday's final round, tied for fifth best among the 16 schools.
Sophomore
Allie Justiz totaled eight birdies for the tournament, shooting 13 over with a 4 over Monday round. She tied for 45th as the Lopes' next best finisher.
Junior
Jess Haines (18 over/T-65th), junior
Lena Tremouille (23 over/T-80th), and freshman
Rosie Maguire (37 over/94th) finalized the starting five.

Matilda Samervong tied for 80th at 23 over as individualists.
GCU notched 30 birdies in total, tied sixth most among the field. Vakasiuola was in the top five among par 3, 4 and 5 scoring averages and had the second most birdies of the tournament with 12.
The Lopes take a week off until their home tournament begins Tuesday, Feb. 24 at GCU Golf Course. The two-day GCU Invitational is free to the public, with rounds one and two beginning Tuesday and round three concluding Wednesday, Feb. 25.
