The Grand Canyon track and field teams will travel to College Station, Texas to compete at the NCAA West Regional meet beginning on Wednesday.Â
"What has been a long and at times a frustrating year, we are really excited to have qualified 10 student-athletes in 11 events this year to the NCAA West Regionals," said head coach

The meet will begin on Wednesday with the men's first round of events, and will be followed by the women's first round of events on Thursday.Â
Hildebrandt will be the only Lope competing in two different events as she takes on the 3000-meter steeplechase and the 1,500-meters. Her steeplechase qualifying time was ran at the WAC Outdoor Championships in 10 minutes, 23.05 seconds. Hildebrandt also ran the 1,500-meters in 4:24.48 at the Aztec Invitational for her qualifying time.Â
The women's pole vault team will have three Lopes competing including Lundberg, Fry, and Schwartz. Lundberg is currently ranked 26th in the West Region for her 4.15-meter mark at the Canyon Invitational. Fry and Schwartz have qualifying marks of 4.06-meters from the WAC Outdoor Championships.
Lopes' All-American javelin thrower will compete with his 70.20-meter qualifying throw from the Roadrunner Invitational. Newman currently ranks 13th in the West Region for his qualifying throw.
GCU jump squad will compete with three athletes including Onwordi, Harris, and Binion. Harris sits second on the West Regional rankings with his 2.26-meter jump at the Desert Heat Classic. Ranked 35th in the West Region, Onwordi will compete in the long jump with his qualifying mark of 7.57-meters from the GCU Antelope Invitational. Binion will compete in the triple jump from his 15.47-meter jump at the GCU Outdoor Invitational.Â
Lewis will run in the 800-meter race from his qualifying 1.49:79 time at the Canyon Invitational. Hokanson will also compete in the 800-meters from her time at the Canyon Invitational of 2:06.84.
"These 10 outstanding men and women have been and always will be staples of our Division I success both at the Conference and National levels," said Flood. "They all have had wonderful seasons and they will enjoy every second of this weekend. We hope all of them qualify for the NCAA finals in two weeks."
The first event for the Lopes will begin at 11:30 a.m. (Phoenix time) with the men's javelin.Â
