GCU looks to defend program's strreak of conference titles
CLOVIS, Calif. — Grand Canyon will head to California this week for the Mountain West Outdoor Track and Field Championships, set for Thursday through Saturday at Veterans Memorial Stadium in Clovis, California.
The Lopes enter the conference championship meet carrying momentum from a strong outdoor season. The GCU men's squad is looking to secure its sixth title in seven years whereas the Lopes women are searching for their first conference championship since 2021.
GCU looks to excel in events like the men's 200 meters, men's and women's 4x100 relays, women's pole vault and women's triple jump, where the Lopes hold the top results in all these events this season.
With many broken records this outdoor season, GCU is ready for a chance to compete. After dominating for a recent run of conference titles, GCU is ready to take the next challenge that the Mountain West brings.
"We are all excited about our team's inaugural Mountain West Conference Outdoor Championships," Lopes head coach Tom Flood said. "We definitely have our work cut out for us competing against some of the top teams in the nation, but we will make our presence known."
The event will stream live on the Mountain West Network.
