GCU sweeps WAC doubles awards

Men's, women's pairs take conference honors
Both Grand Canyon tennis teams earned WAC Doubles Players of the Week honors. Men's doubles team Lorenzo Fucile and Can Franke and women's pair Natasha Puehse and Jana Weiss earned the weekly WAC awards.
Franke, a freshman, and Fucile, a senior, earned this award for the second time this spring, with Franke earning his third WAC honor this season. The pair competed at the No. 1 position against Northern Arizona and San Francisco picking up 6-4 and 6-2 wins, respectively. Overall, the pair has a 4-0 record, a team best.
Puehse, a freshman, and Weiss, a sophomore, also had a perfect weekend on the road, picking up two wins at No. 2. They won 6-2 over Montana's Bianca Bostrom and Maria Goheen and won 6-1 against Montana State's Mirte Van Baelen and J.J. Chen. GCU captured the doubles point against the Bobcats en route to its first win of the season.
Both teams will have a busy upcoming weekend. The men will play at Stanford against the Cardinal on Friday and against Pacific on Saturday while the women will play at UC Irvine against the Anteaters on Saturday and against Nevada on Sunday.
