Fountain Hills native leads Lopes to team win
DENVER – Courtney Vogel of the Grand Canyon women's golf team has been named the Western Athletic Conference Golfer of the Week.
Vogel helped lead the Lopes to a one-shot team victory at the Battle at the Rock tournament in California.
GCU was down by 11 shots after the first round and seven shots entering the final round. The Lopes trailed on the final three holes but Courtney Vogel birdied three of her last four holes to help vault the Lopes to the top of the field. Vogel finished in third-place, including her final round 69 (-3).
GCU is back in action next week when it hosts the GCU Invitational at GCU Golf Course on Feb. 23-24.
