DENVER –
Deanna Salvatori of the Grand Canyon women's golf team has been named the Western Athletic Conference Golfer of the Week, it was announced by the WAC office.
Salvatori fired a 5-under par 67 in the final round of the Wildcat Invitational, going up against the top golfers in the country. Her final round is the lowest since GCU became division I postseason eligible, and second-lowest all-time (66, Charlotte Jaengkit).
She finished the tournament in ninth-place, her sixth top-10 of the season. Salvatori leads the WAC with a 72.75 stroke average this season.
In the U of A tournament, GCU finished ahead of WAC rival New Mexico State and power 5 member Iowa.
GCU will head to Puerto Vallarta on March 16-17.
