PHOENIX – In one of toughest fields the Grand Canyon women's golf team has faced all season, the team is in 17th place at the Wyoming Cowgirl Classic. After two rounds, the Lopes shot +47 as a team and they are led by
Julia Shin who is tied for tenth place in a deep field of players.
Shin was stellar on Par 5's in the first two rounds of the tournament, shooting -2 on Par 5's, the third lowest score for the tournament. Shin was consistent in the first 36 holes of the tournament shooting a 74 in the first round to put her in a tie for 20th. To close out the first day, Shin would play her best round of golf this season, shooting a season-best 73, to move up 10 spots in the leaderboard and crack the top-10.
Deanna Salvatori would finished second for the Lopes after shooting +9 after 36 holes. Salvatori was consistent in her play as well, shooting 77 in the first round and then closed out the day with a 76 in the second round.
Play will conclude on Tuesday, April 5, at the Ak-Chin Southern Dunes Golf Club.
