COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The Grand Canyon wrestling team went on the road to face the Air Force Academy. The Lopes came away with three victories but GCU fell to the Falcons 23-9. GCU is now 5-14 this season.

The Lopes were involved in seven matches that were decided by four points or less. GCU's first win of the day came in the 141-pound match between Rafael Tovar and Anthony McHugh. GCU's Tovar was able to pull out the 6-3 decision to put GCU on the board.

AFA would rattle off three straight wins after Tovar's win but Kenny Moore got GCU back on the board with the 3-1 decision over Adam Jackson to give the Lopes six points on the day. With the victory, Moore has won his fifth straight match dating back to Jan. 8.

Grand Canyon's final three points against Air Force would come in the final match of the day in the 285-pound match between Air Force's Marcus Malecek and GCU's Daniel Chaid. GCU would pull out its third decision of the match after Chaid defeated Malecek 4-1.

The Lopes will be back in action on Sunday, Jan. 24, as they travel to Illinois to face Davidson and Southern Illinois-Edwardsville.
