Blake Monty is working toward a bachelor's degree in justice studies at Grand Canyon.
High School
Monty joins the Lopes after a prep career filled with accoldades. Monty won the Arizona state title at 145 pounds as a junior when he was ranked as high as No. 20 in the nation by Intermat. Behind his individual crown, he helped his Mountain View High School squad to the state team title in 2014. Mountain View repeated as team champions during his senior season while Monty again reached the state final where he finished as runner-up in 2015. He added a second-place finish at the prestigious Reno Tournament of Champions that year. Monty also placed fifth at state as a freshman, the same season he won the first of two NHSCA All-America honors.
