FAIRFAX, VA. – The Grand Canyon wrestling team was back in action this weekend as they headed back east to compete in the Mason Duals. Hosted by George Mason, the Antelopes faced the Patriots along with Clarion and No. 5 in the country North Carolina State. The Lopes were able to pick up eight wins in the three matches led by
Kenny Moore, who went a perfect 3-0 against the Wolf Pack, Golden Eagles and Patriots.Â

Grand Canyon started out the open against North Carolina State and Moore was able to come away with a victory over the Wolf Pack's Lee Davis. In the seventh match of the day, Moore was able to pull off the decision 8-4, to earn his fourth straight victory. Grand Canyon fell the NC State 35-3.

In its second match of the day, Grand Canyon would take on Clarion and the Lopes started off the match with a win in the 125-pound match.
Trayton Libolt was able to come away with the decision over Patrick DeWitt.
Juaquin Olivas also picked up a win in the 133-pound match with a decision over Kyle Greenwald.
Blake Monty would snap his two-match losing streak with a victory Brodie Zacherl and Moore continued to impress throughout the open with a major decision victory over Morgan Way. GCU would pick up four wins over Clarion but fall to the Golden Eagles 26-13.Â

In their final match of the day, the Lopes would face the host, George Mason, to close out the tournament and GCU was able to come away with three victories over the Patriots. Libolt ended the day on a two-match winning streak with a 9-6 decision over William Prochniewski. GCU's second victory would come from Moore with the 3-1 decision over Ryan Forrest to cap off a perfect 3-0 weekend. Moore has now won five straight matches. GCU's final victory came from
Austin Gaun over Austin Harrison, 9-3, to give GCU nine points against George Mason. The Patriots went on to defeat the Antelopes 22-9.

GCU will now head back home for a matchup at home this weekend, Dec. 19, against Northern Illinois.Â
