The Grand Canyon University women's golf team is just three strokes out of first place at the 16-team Jackrabbit Invitational, hosted by South Dakota State at the Primm Valley Golf Club in Las Vegas, Nev. The Antelopes carded a 45-over 621 through two rounds of play to stand just behind Oral Roberts heading into tomorrow's final round.
Arkansas State is in third at 52-over 628, followed by Missouri State at 54-over 630.
As a team, the 'Lopes posted the best first-round score with a 21-over 309 and finished the day with 17 total birdies.
"I was pleased by the effort of our team to lead after the first round and to currently stand in second just three strokes behind the leader, Oral Roberts," said head coach Don Powers. "This is a very difficult golf course. I am confident that if we putt better, we have a great chance of winning the team title."

Charlotte Jaengkit currently leads the 90-player field after recording a one-over 145 over 36 holes of play. She is five strokes ahead of Susan Kirschenman of Kansas City, who is in second place. Jaengkit carded an impressive three-under 69 in the second round to move into the top spot.
Tiffany Hewetson is tied for fifth at 10-over 154 after posting identical scores of five-over 77 in today's action.
Julia Shin is tied for 25
th with a two-round score of 16-over 160, three strokes ahead of teammate
Emily Kaye, who is tied for 40
th.
