Grand Canyon University will host the NCAA Division II Women's Golf West Region Championships Monday through Jessica McKay tries to qualify for NCAA ChampionshipsWednesday at The Legacy Golf Resort in south Phoenix.
Monday's play tees off at 7 a.m.
Senior Jessica McKay (pictured) is Grand Canyon's lone competitor. She will attempt to qualify for her first NCAA Championships appearance. McKay finished eighth at last year's regional and fourth in 2006.
McKay won the Western Washington Invitational in the fall, shooting a 1-over 147. She finished second at the Western New Mexico Cactus Thaw in February and the Mesa State Maverick Invitational in April. McKay carries a 78.65 stroke average and has 27 birdies this year.
