Grand Canyon will send 19 athletes to the NCAA Division I Outdoor Track and Field Championships West First Round, taking place May 28–31 at Texas A&M's E.B. Cushing Stadium in College Station.
The Lopes will be represented in 13 events, including both men's relays and a strong sprint-hurdle core on both the men's and women's sides.
Lopes athletes qualified for the West First Round by posting one of the top-48 marks in the region or top-24 times for relay teams. The top-12 finishers from first-round competition will advance to the NCAA Championships in Eugene, Oregon, from June 11-14.
The Lopes qualified three athletes in the 400 meters: junior
Taliyah Booker (53.72) and senior
Aaliyah Rifort-Delem (53.60) earned bids in the women's 400 meters, while senior
Joshua Gittens (46.21) will compete in the men's 400.
GCU will be busy in hurdles with five athletes qualifying for six entries. Three Lopes qualified in the men's 110-meter hurdles: sophomore
Francisco Marques (13.57), sophomore
Prosper Ekporere (13.61) and senior
Cam Wilmington (13.79), the latter of whom also qualified for the 400-meter hurdles (51.58). He'll be joined by graduate
Daviciea McCartney, who clocked 51.29 to earn his NCAA spot. On the women's side, senior
Amanda Thrue was a late add to the 100-meter hurdles.
In the middle distances, junior
Germain Lemaitre qualified in the 800 meters with a mark of 1:48.47.

Miguel Rosario III earned his place in the 200 meters with a qualifying time of 20.67.
In the field events, senior
Jazmine Scott represents GCU in the women's triple jump (12.92m), while junior
Jacob Nash (64.34m) and senior
Lucy George (50.69m) qualified in the javelin.
Both GCU men's relay teams earned spots. The men's 4x100-meter relay includes senior

Sydney Peal as an alternate. In the 4x400-meter relay, McCartney, Wilmington and Gittens will be joined by junior
