The Grand Canyon swimming and diving team is set for double meet weekend where they will head to Tucson for a Friday meet and return to compete at home Saturday afternoon.
Â
Friday's meet with Arizona will be the second of the season against a Pac-12 university, after taking on men's number one Arizona State just a week ago. This is the first season in program history that the Lopes faced both programs in the same season.
Â
GCU last visited Arizona at the beginning of last season where they fell despite some good swims. On the men's side, the Lopes picked up individual event wins from sophomore
Sam Jennings in the 200-yard backstroke (1 minute, 52.33 seconds) and freshman Jo
nathan Rom in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:02.41) and 400-yard IM (4:15.48). Lopes sophomore Fruzsina Macsok was an event winner in the 400-yard IM, clocking in with a 4:39.67.
Â
Arizona has hosted two dual meets thus far on the men's side and are 2-0 after picking up wins against USC and Southern Illinois. Meanwhile the women have lost to USC and UCLA at home.
Â
The Lopes will take on the Wildcats at 2 p.m. at the Hillenbrand Aquatic Center in Tucson on Friday.

Raphaela Nakashima placed first and Lopes sophomore MariaÂ
