Lopes return to action in Stockton Invitational

3-day tournament begins Thursday in Northern California

The Grand Canyon men's golf team returns to the course this week when the three-day Visit Stockton Invitational begins Thursday morning.

The tournament is hosted by Pacific and will be held at the Stockton Golf & Country Club.

The Lopes have competed in three tournaments since the fall season began in mid-September. GCU placed third in the Wildcat Invitational, fourth in the Nick Watney Invitational and most recently eighth in the Mark Simpson Invitational on Oct. 4.

The starting five who took fourth in the Wildcat Invitational will compete for the Lopes in Stockton, California. Junior Nicky Kling, senior Matthew Braley, sophomores Josh McCabe and Sam Murphy and fifth-year senior Parker Reddig will begin play at 9:15 a.m. (Phoenix time).

McCabe and Braley tied for 19th in Boulder, Colorado, at 2 over par while Kling placed 26th at 3 over in the team's last outing. GCU is among 16 teams in this week's tournament, which includes fellow WAC school Utah Tech.
