In the final regular-season tournament of the 2025-26 season, Grand Canyon concluded the Thunderbird Collegiate at Papago Golf Club on Saturday with an even-par team score that put the Lopes at the back of a nine-team field with seven top-50 teams.
RESULTS
GCU finished ninth, five shots behind Oregon State. Five of the tournament's seven teams ranked among the top 35 with No. 20 New Mexico winning at 33 under. The tournament served as a test against the best competition ahead of GCU's most important tournament, the Mountain West Championship on May 3-5 in Tucson.
Lopes sophomore
Nixon Lauritzen led the team for the second straight tournament with a 1-over tournament total. He shot 2 under in Saturday's final round to place 32nd. He carded five birdies Saturday after making five in Friday's first and second rounds combined.
Sophomore teammates
Matthew Diehl and
Erik Rengardt tied for 36th at 2 over, each shooting 1 over Saturday. Diehl matched Laurizten's birdie count of five for the third round, while Rengardt had an eagle on the par-4 third hole, one of three eagles by the Lopes this weekend. The eagle count was second best in the field.
GCU sophomore Måns Boje finished 4 over for 45th with junior teammate
Gavin O'Neill placied 49th at 5 over. Boje had nine straight pars to open his round, helping putting GCU's par total at 173 for the weekend. That number was fourth best among the field, with Rengardt totaling a team-best 42 pars over 54 holes.

Daniel Nilsson finished 51st at 6 over as an individual entry.
GCU will use the rest of April to prepare for the conference championship at Omni Tucson National on May 3-5. The Lopes tied for eighth in a 14-team spring event at Omni Tucson National, going against five nationally ranked programs.
