The Grand Canyon swimming and diving teams will host Northern Arizona, Arizona Christian and Ottawa in their first home meet of the season on Saturday at Fr. Edward Reese Aquatic Center in Phoenix. The meet is set to begin at 1 p.m. with warmups at 11:30 a.m. The women will compete in a four-team meet while the men will compete in a three-team meet against ACU and Ottawa.

LAST TIME OUT
The swimming and diving teams are coming off their midseason meet at the Miami Invitational in Ohio, where they earned seven team records, four pool records, 13 NCAA B cuts, 22 National Invitational A cuts, 65 National Invitational B cuts, 15 top WAC times and 72 lifetime bests this weekend in Oxford. The men were victorious scoring against Miami and Youngstown, while the women placed second behind Miami.

SCOUTING
The Lopes will see two new in-state competitors in Arizona Christian and Ottawa.

Firestorm: The Arizona Christian men's and women's swimming teams are coming off a couple of wins in a meet with GCU's club team and Ottawa in the OUAZ Invite. The Firestorm are led by head coach Brad Hering, who is in his second season with the reins. Hering was a four-time All-America swimmer at Arizona State.

Spirit: The Ottawa' men's team is coming off a second-place finish on the men's side behind ACU, along with a third-place finish from the women in the OUAZ Invite.

Lumberjacks: This will be the first time since the 2013-14 that the women will compete in the regular season against in-state conference foe NAU. In the last meeting, the Lopes fell 168-125 in Flagstaff despite setting five pool records. The Lumberjacks tied for first place with Colorado Mesa in the A3 Performance Invite. NAU was down 60 points, competing without divers, and came back in the last session. The Lumberjacks are led by head coach Andy Johns and head diving coach Nikki Kelsey, who are in their 26th seasons at NAU.

Fr. Edward Reese Aquatic Center is located at Brophy College Preparatory at 4701 N. Central Ave. in Phoenix. The pool is on the east side of campus with parking on the south side.
