The Grand Canyon track and field team will wrap up the indoor regular season by competing at the NAU Tune-Up meet in Flagstaff this Friday at noon.
The meet will start with field events from noon to 3 p.m. and follow with running events, starting at 4:30 p.m. at Walkup Skydome. The schedule is subject to adjustment based on field sizes and will run ahead of schedule, if possible, by no more than 30 minutes.
As the Lopes prepare for the WAC Indoor Track and Field Championship next week, they will have a smaller team traveling on Friday but it will include women's pole vaulters and throwers. This will be some of the competitors' last chances to qualify for the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships in Albuquerque, New Mexico, on March 13-14.
Competing teams also will bring smaller groups this week as they also prepare for conference and national meets.
Coming off a demanding past few weeks, the Lopes will take on their first one-day meet since Jan. 17 at the Lumberjack Team Challenge. The team looks to recover and respond for the WAC Indoor Track and Field Championships in Nampa, Idaho, on Feb. 28-29.
