MOSCOW, Idaho -- The Grand Canyon men's swimming and diving team continued its winning ways on Saturday, defeating Simon Fraser 184-100.
Senior
Daniil Antipov led the Lopes with three individual victories in the 1,000-yard freestyle (9:32.87), 100 butterfly (47.19) and 200 butterfly (1:47.46).Â
Samuel McKenzie added on to his impressive freshman campaign, collecting victories in the 100 freestyle (45.46) and 200 freestyle (1:41.47).
In the 50 freestyle, the Lopes swept the event with
Mazen Shoukri finishing first (20.66), Bogan Plavin in second (20.75),
Florent Janin in third (21.13) and
Brandon Baron in fourth (22.08).Â
Asahi Nagahata collected two victories in the 100 breaststroke (57.35) and 200 breaststroke (2:08.15). Plavin followed, finishing second in the 100 breaststroke, while
Jake Baron finished third in the 200 breaststroke.
Elias Knobloch earned a pair of third-place finishes in the 200 freestyle (1:55.58) and 100 butterfly (52.05).
Eran Ber had third-place finishes in the 100 backstroke (51.69), 200 backstroke (1:53.81) and 200 individual medley (1:57.90).Â
Dylan Nasser finished third in the 500 freestyle in 4:40.97.Â
Cameron Carney finished second in the 100 backstroke with a time of 51.48 and fourth in the 200 backstroke (1:55.24).Â
The Lopes swept the 200 medley and 400 freestyle relays.Â
Kainan De Jesus, Plavin, Antipov and Shoukri won the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:32.49, while McKenzie, Janin, Plavin and Shoukri won the 400 freestyle relay (3:04.13).
Diving was a strong point for the Lopes, as GCU'sÂ
Pietro Hufnagel Toscani won the 1-meter dive (334.55 points) and 3-meter dive (339.85).
Nick Benson finished second in both events with a 1-meter score of 287.65 and a 3-meter score of 310.40.
The Lopes are back in action next weekend as they host UNLV on Feb. 2 for Senior Day.
