MCALLEN, TEXAS -- The Grand Canyon women's golf team ended the UTRGV Invitational on a high note with its best round score of 304, edging out Xavier for a fourth place finish.
Despite the challenging conditions, the Lopes remained focused and improved on their two-round scores of 317 and 313 on the previous day to close out the tournament with 934.
Individually,
Courtney Vogel tied for second on the player leaderboard with 224, just one stroke behind first. After an even score on the back nine and sinking four birdies, Vogel closed out her best and final round at three over par.Â
After a difficult first round,
Deanna Salvatori made an incredible comeback to finish out the final round of the tournament at four over par. She soared up the ranks to tie for 30th along with
Brittany Holen.
Amy Ruelas, who tied for 22nd, hit par on six straight holes on the back nine in the final round while
Leleaga Meredith tied for 48th. Â
The Lopes look forward to playing at home for the first and only time this season beginning March 11-12 at the GCU Invitational.
