The Grand Canyon women's golf team completed the first day of the GCU Invitational in fourth place, held at Grand Canyon Golf Course.Â
Deanna Salvatori used a second round 69 to enter the final round just one shot back in second place. Her second round included five birdies.
The Lopes also got some strong play out of their individuals, including
Kylie Fong finishing tied for the first round lead and
Carolina Sandstrom getting a hole-in-one on the 164 yard par-3 second hole. Fong enters the final round in a tie for 14
th, while Sandstrom is in a tie for 16
th with a second round 68.
Courtney Vogel continued her consistent play at the No. 1 spot, finishing with rounds of 72 and 74, putting the freshman in a tie for sixth place.
Brittany Holen shot rounds of 79 and 78 out of the No. 5 slot to rank in the top-30.Â
Amy Ruelas is in a tie for 34
th place while
Leleaga Meredith is in a tie for 39
th place.Â
Charatta Thongbai is also playing as an individual and is in 37
th place.
Portland State holds the team lead heading into the final round with a +5 total. Seattle is second at +19, followed by UAB +24, GCU +26 and Georgetown +31, rounding out the top-5 in the 10-team Invitational.
GCU is back in action on Sunday for the final round of the GCU Invite at GCU Golf Course.Â
