PHOENIX – The Grand Canyon women's golf team concluded the final round of the Wyoming Cowgirl Classic at the Ak-Chin Southern Dunes Golf Club. The Lopes had two top-50 performances, led by
Julia Shin tying for 34th place.
In the final round of the tournament, the Lopes posted their second lowest round as a team, shooting 311 as a team, putting them at +40. In the final round, Shin would post +7 in the final 18 holes, putting Shin in a tie for 34th place. Throughout the two days of play, Shin recorded nine birdies, the fourth most in the tournament.
Deanna Salvatori finished in second place for the Lopes at the Cowgirl Classic, and was great on the front-9, shooting even with nine pars. Salvatori would shoot four over on the back-9 to shoot +4 for the final round. Salvatori posted 36 pars for the tournament, the fourth most from any player in the field.
The lowest round of golf on the final day from a GCU player came from
Amy Ruelas, shooting 75, putting Ruelas at +3. After a solid start to the final round, Ruelas shot +3 on the front-9 and then closed the tournament on a high note going even on the back-9.
