WAHIAWA, Hawaii – The Grand Canyon women's golf team concluded play at the Rainbow Wahine Invitational, hosted by Hawaii where three players from GCU cracked the top-25. The Lopes posted its lowest round of the fall season and finished in sixth place.

Lauren Giesecke said. "We have made great strides throughout the fall, and this schedule has helped us tremendously headed towards the spring."
The Lopes got off to a good start, shooting their lowest round of the season as a team with a score of 298 to put them at +10 for the opening round.
Deanna Salvatori found herself tied for 11th place after a solid 73 to put her at +1 for the first round.
Kylie Fong and
Leleaga Meredith were right behind her tied for 14th place, just one stroke behind. It was the lowest rounds for both Fong and Meredith throughout the fall.
Salvatori earned the Lopes' highest finish on the leaderboard, finishing in a tie for 21st, shooting +9 for the tournament. The junior was tied for the 4th lowest score on Par 4 holes, shooting +2 throughout the three rounds.
After shooting a 79 on the first day and tied for 38th,
Amy Ruelas began to climb up with leaderboard with a 72 on the second day and on the final day she shot a 76. Ruelas moved up 15 spots to finish at +11 in a tie for 23rd. Fong was consistent throughout in the first two rounds after a 74 on the first day. The sophomore finished with a 73 in the second round. Despite a rough finish, Fong would end the tournament in a tie with fellow Lope, Ruelas, in a tie for 23rd.
Meredith finished in 30th place at +13 just two strokes outside top-25 while
Brittany Holen finished in a tie for 40th place at +28.
As one of two members of the Western Athletic Conference competing in the tournament, the Lopes finished ahead of UT Rio Grande Valley by 10 strokes.
"We have laid down a solid foundation throughout these five tournaments," Giesecke added. "We still have a lot to work on but I am proud of how hard our women worked this fall and I know we will be ready for spring."
The Rainbow Wahine Invitational concludes the fall season for GCU and will kick off its spring schedule on February 13 in California.
