Results (PDF)OAHU – In its final tournament of the Fall season, the Grand Canyon women's golf team traveled to Oahu to participate in the Rainbow Wahine Invitational hosted by Hawaii. The Antelopes improved each and every round in the standings, finishing in ninth place, led by Deanna Salvatori for a top-10 finish in the tournament.
In the first round, the Lopes shot 308 as a team, putting them at +20 and in a tie for 10
th place for the tournament. Kylie Fong got off to a sensational start for the Lopes ending the first round in a tie for eighth place shooting even (72) in the first 18 holes.
Grand Canyon improved as a team in the second round finishing in a tie for ninth place with Oral Roberts improving two strokes as a team to put the squad at +38 for the tournament. Fong moved up to sixth place, shooting +2 in the second round. After being tied for 25
th place after the first round, Deanna Salvatori jumped up the leaderboard to move into a tie for 15
th place, improving by three strokes on the second day to shoot a 73, putting her at +5 heading into the final round. Heading into the final round, Samantha Barker was tied for 55
th place after improving by four strokes from the first round to the second round and Barker was able to finish the tournament in a tie for 40
th place after a round of 74 on the final day.
Salvatori saved her best performance for the final round of the Rainbow Wahine Invitational, shooting a 70 on the final 18 holes, ending the tournament at +3, tying for the sixth best score at the Invitational. Salvatori improved by six strokes from the start of the tournament to the final round. Fong earned a top-15 finish ending her final round with a 76 putting her in a tie at 12
th place.
Amy Ruelas would shoot her best round on the first day, finishing with a 79 and Ruelas would end the tournament in 65
th place at +17. Charatta Thongbai would end the tournament at +20 in 76
th place.
As a team, the Lopes' best day came in the final round, shooting 297, an 11-stroke improvement from the first round to take sole possession of ninth place out of 14 teams.
GCU has now concluded its five tournament schedule in the Fall and will be back in action in February of 2016 at the GCU Invitational.
