PALM DESERT, Calif. – Grand Canyon completed the second round of the Alice and John Wallace Women's Golf Classic on Sunday at the Monterey Country Club in Palm Desert, California.
Playing a par-71, 6,108-yard course, GCU is tied for 11th place with two other teams at 26 over par. Of the 21 teams competing, only two are under par with No. 5 Oregon in first at 16 under and No. 3 Southern California at 4 under par.
Kiara Romero of Oregon leads the field of 120 golfers at 6 under.
Leading GCU is sophomore
Brenna Preap, who shot 3 over Sunday after a 3-over Saturday first round. Preap is 37th and finished her round with a birdie and two pars.
Senior
Anci Dy is second for the Lopes at 7 over after shooting 4 over in the second round. Jumping 13 spots into 49th is GCU sophomore
Lena Tremouille, who tied the best nine-hole score of the squad on the day. Tremouille shot a 1-under 34 on her front nine (holes 10-18) and finished the day at 3 over. She totaled two birdies overall and was bogey free through her first 11 holes.
Graduate
Calynne Rosholt is 57th at 9 over, followed by GCU sophomore
Jess Haines, who moved up 15 spots with a team-high three birdies and a 1-under back nine (holes 1-9). Haines is 88th at 14 over.
The Lopes are ninth of 21 teams in par-5 scoring, totaling 1 over par on such holes through 36 holes of play.
Final-round action begins Monday morning with a shotgun start at 9:30 a.m.

Playing for the first time this spring, GCU is tied for 10th in a 21-team field that saw only two teams shoot under par Saturday.
GCU carded a 13-over score with 11 birdies in the first round of the Alice and John Wallace Women's Golf Classic at Monterey Country Club. The Lopes are tied with No. 42 UC Davis and one shot above fellow WAC program California Baptist.
No. 5 Oregon leads the field at 8 under, followed by No. 3 USC in second at 1 under and No. 38 San Jose State in third at 2 over par.
GCU's 11 birdies is tied for sixth most with Boise State, while its par-4 average score of 4.18 is eighth best through 18 holes.
Rosholt is 30th at 2 over, leading the Lopes with three birdies, with two coming on her final three holes. One shot back of Rosholt is Preap, who finished her round with four straight pars, and Dy, who matched Rosholt's birdie count. Preap and Dy are tied for 39th.
Tremouille is 62nd at 5 over, followed by Haines at 11 over.
Four players are tied for the overall lead at 3 under par, with Rosholt five back and Dy and Preap six back.
The second round at the Monterey Country Club begins Sunday with a shotgun start at 9:30 a.m.
