For the first time this season, Grand Canyon will split its squad between two meets. The Lopes will compete in both the Ron Mann Classic held in Flagstaff, Arizona, and the New Mexico Team Open held in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
A group of 37 Lopes representing sprints, hurdles and mid-distance will return to Albuquerque Convention Center for a two-day meet contested on Friday and Saturday.
A pair of Lopes who
both broke school records in Albuquerque last weekend and
both won WAC weekly awards — junior mid-distance
Germain Lemaitre and senior jumps athlete
Taryn Burkett — will be in the group pointed back to Albuquerque.
GCU's men's event squads for the 200-meter run (ranked No. 2 in the nation) and 60-meter hurdles (ranked No. 4 nationally) will both be on the ground back in Albuquerque.
The Lopes will also send 40 competitors to Flagstaff from its throwers and jumpers groups.
WAC pole vault leader with a mark of 3.85 meters, sophomore
Nicole Prall, will be among the group headed to Flagstaff.
Live results are available for the Flagstaff meet.
Live video (with payment) and
live results (free) are available for Albuquerque.
