Grand Canyon track and field returns to Flagstaff for the Lumberjack Team Challenge on Friday.
Back at Northern Arizona's Walkup Skydome, the field events begin at 2 p.m. and the running events begin at 4 p.m.
The Lopes will take a much smaller unit north to compete this week than last week's meet where over 90 athletes competed.
"We will be sending a much smaller group, mostly throwers and jumpers, to this week's NAU meet," Lopes head coach Tom Flood said. "The majority of our sprints and hurdles group will just train through this week and prepare for bigger meets in the next several weeks."
After success in the 60-meter hurdles last week from senior
Cam Wilmington, who set a personal best and was named WAC Men's Track Athlete of the Week, sophomore transfer
Francisco Marques will make his GCU debut.
"We are excited to finally see the season debut of Francisco in the 60-meter hurdles," Flood said. "He has had a fantastic fall and has looked really good in training."
GCU will participate in Friday's meet before heading to Albuquerque for the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Invitational next weekend.
