The Grand Canyon track and field team will join an elite meet roster in the final regular season meet of the year at the Arizona hosted, Desert Heat Classic.

Israel Oloyede took the male WAC field athlete of the week honor after throwing a hammer mark of 74.84 meters taking the top WAC mark, second best west region mark, and third in the NCAA. This is a season best for Oloyede.

In addition to Oloyede,Â
the Lopes had school record performances from Germain Lemaitre (800m) and Onome Ogbeni (shot put).
The Desert Heat Classic will include major talent from Alabama, Arizona State, Baylor, BYU, Colorado, CSUN, Eastern Washington, Houston, Idaho, Iowa, Iowa State, Minnesota, New Mexico, New Mexico State, Northern Arizona, Northern Colorado, Oregon, Purdue, San Diego State, Tennessee, Texas A&M, UC Riverside, and UTEP.
Saturday's competition will begin at 12:00 p.m. (Phoenix time) with field events with the track events beginning at 4:30 p.m.
