After five spring tournaments across the western United States, the Grand Canyon men's golf team preps for its most important tournament yet in the WAC Championship, hosted by the Boulder Creek Golf Club in Boulder City, Nevada.
The three-day tournament begins Friday morning with the second round on Saturday and the third and final round on Sunday. The Boulder Creek Golf Club has played host to the WAC Championship in each of the past two seasons. GCU placed second in 2021 and third in 2022, finishing less than four strokes back of first place in each tournament. The course is a par 72 with distance of 7,482 yards.
"We're really looking forward to the next couple of days," GCU head coach
Mark Mueller said. "This is what the guys play for, and they're prepared and ready to go. I'm excited to see where they can take this opportunity as they have put in a lot of work up to this point.
"Come Sunday, hope is to have a chance going into the back nine with a shot at winning. Postseason golf is what you play for, so excited for the guys to get going."
The Lopes have prepped themselves with tough competition during the spring, competing in five spring tournaments that included multiple top-50 teams via Golfstat.
