The Grand Canyon track and field team is heading to Texas to compete in the 95th annual Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays from Thursday to Saturday in Austin, Texas.
The Texas Relays are always very competitive, but this year's field is possibly the most competitive yet. The Lopes will bring a small group of mostly sprinters as well as some jumpers and throwers.
The meet attracts 15 of the top 25 men's track and field programs and 13 of the top 25 women's programs in the country. The men's side will include No. 2 LSU, No. 3 California, No. 6 Virginia, No. 7 Texas Tech and No. 8 Kentucky. The women's competition includes No. 1 LSU, No. 8 Ole Miss, No. 9 Auburn, No. 10 Ohio State and No. 12 Virginia.
Part of the historic meet's draw for a strong field is that this season's NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships will take place in Austin, Texas, in June.
