Top teams in conference go head to head to close out regular season

The Grand Canyon men's and women's swimming and diving teams are heading to Las Vegas to take on UNLV for the last WAC matchup of the regular season.

The Saturday showdown will be crucial for the Lopes. The men's team currently sits at second in the conference while the Rebels are in first place.

In last year's meet with UNLV, the Lopes won 150-147. Individually, it was a close meet with GCU earning six wins and 23 top-three finishes against the Rebels.

The Lopes are coming in with momentum. In their most recent meet, the men beat California Baptist 174-126, while women won 168-128. In addition to the team performances, Freshman Paula Martinez Moreno won WAC Women's Swimmer of the Week while sophomore Vitaly Kostin won WAC Men's Swimmer of the Week.

The action will begin Saturday at noon Phoenix time at Jim Reitz Pool.
