The Grand Canyon women's tennis team continued its hot play with a 7-0 shutout over Weber State on Sunday at GCU Tennis Facility.

The Lopes (4-5) won their fourth straight match by putting together an all-around performance against the Wildcats (2-6), taking the doubles point and finishing five of the six singles wins in straight sets.

In doubles, the Wildcats started the match with a 6-1 win at Court 3 over GCU sophomore
Valentina Del Marco and freshman
Dania Deaifi. The Lopes responded with a 6-4 win at Court 2 by graduate
Madeline Lamoreaux to tie up doubles.

The doubles point was clinched with a 6-3 win by senior
Natasha Puehse and junior
Santa Strombacha at the No. 1 position. The top GCU pair have won five straight matches and they gave the Lopes a 1-0 lead.

In singles, the Lopes maintained the momentum and took five first sets. Deaifi was dominant in her match at No. 4, dropping only two games in route to a 6-2, 6-0 win. Strombacha followed up with a 6-2, 6-2 win at No. 2 to extend her winning streak to seven matches and put GCU up 3-0.

The dual-match win was clinched by Lamoreaux at Court 5 with her 6-1, 6-3 win. Puehse clinched her match soon after, winning in straight sets to make it a 5-0 GCU lead.

Kocevar and Del Marco finished up the matches with wins at Courts 3 and 6. Kocevar won 6-2, 7-5 and Del Marco rallied from a first-set loss to win the second set 6-4 and a 10-4 tiebreaker.

The Lopes will host Baylor for an anticipated home match at GCU Tennis Facility on Saturday at 5:30 p.m.
