Grand Canyon closed out Senior Day in style on Friday, defeating Colorado State 4-1 at GCU Tennis Facility behind a dominant singles performance.
Colorado State took the early 1-0 lead by winning at No. 1 and No. 3 doubles, despite the Lopes getting a strong 6-3 victory from sophomore

With doubles settled, GCU responded emphatically in singles by taking four consecutive matches on the completed courts to secure the dual win.

Dania Deaifi sparked the comeback with an emotional victory on Court 4. After winning her final home match, the Irvine, California, native broke into tears before embracing her parents.

"The program has meant the world to me, and it has made me who I am today on and off the court," Deaifi said, "The support of this program has been unreal with unconditional love nonstop, I could not be more grateful for my time here at GCU."

Gala Arangio took another victory on Court 2, winning 6-2, 6-2 to secure her 20th career singles victory.

The GCU freshman duo of Amalia Suciu and
Hams Metwally clinched the dual win on their courts. Suciu battled to a 7-6 (7-4), 6-1 victory before Metwally sealed it with a 3-6, 6-2, 6-4 victory on Court 3.

"We had a shaky start, but we were able to compete well and find our level as the match went on," GCU head coach Dané Vorster, "Dani's competitive spirit and fight for her team will be remembered and help take our team further into the postseason one last time."

The Lopes head to Wyoming to take on the Cowgirls this Sunday in a quick turnaround. The Lopes sit in sixth in the Mountain West standings as they near postseason play.
