The Grand Canyon men's tennis team swept the weekly WAC awards on Wednesday.
Sophomore
Jonathan Da Silva was named WAC Singles Player of the Week while freshmen
William Alsterback and
Alfred Almasi were named WAC Doubles Players of the Week.
Da Silva becomes the second Lope to earn weekly singles honor after his teammate
Martim Marujo earned the first WAC honor this season. Da Silva competed at the No. 1 singles position last week and finished 1-1 with a win over UC Riverside at home. On Feb. 10, Da Silva was dominant against UC Riverside's Antreas Djakouris, winning 6-1, 6-4 as the Lopes went on to shut out the Highlanders 4-0.
In doubles, Alsterback and Almasi paired up for the first time this season, finishing the week at 1-1. At the No. 2 position against UC Riverside, the GCU duo defeated Ryan Huynh and Daniel Velek 6-1, as the Lopes went on to clinch the doubles point.
The Lopes will be back in action this weekend when they travel to Santa Clara on Saturday.
