Season's home opener set for Lopes

GCU stages final meet heading into holiday break

The Grand Canyon swimming and diving team will face off in the first home meet of the season Saturday with Northern Colorado, Arizona Christian and Ottawa (Arizona).

The Lopes are coming off their midseason meet in Oxford, Ohio, where the men took first last weekend. In that meet, the team had four NCAA B Cuts (Sam Jennings, Alex Volkov, Paula Martinez Moreno, Raphaela Nakashima), 20 CSCAA A Cuts, 37 New All-Time Top 10 Times/Scores and 62 CSCAA B cuts.

The women will face off with Northern Colorado's squad for the first time in dual meet history. Heading into this weekend, Northern Colorado has taken down Idaho and New Mexico State in WAC competition.

The Lopes men and women were victorious in this meet a year ago against Ottawa and Arizona Christian.

The meet will begin Saturday at 1 p.m. at Fr Edward A. Reese Aquatic Center.
