RIVERSIDE, Calif. — The Grand Canyon swimming and diving team completed the second weekend trip of the season Saturday when they wrapped up against Seattle U, California Baptist, and Denver.
The women wrapped up their dominant weekend in style Saturday when they begun the day with the 400 medley relay where
Briana Rittenbach,
Raphaela Nakashima,
Paula Martinez Moreno, and
Maria Brunlehner went 3 minutes 49.12 seconds to take first place.
Sophomore transfer student
Elisa Corradi swam a first place claiming time of 2:08.53 in the 200 individual medley relay.
The Lopes took first and second place in the 200 butterfly by way of sophomore Martinez Moreno (2:04.70) and junior
Aleksandra Wegrzynowska (2:06.69).
Rittenbach continued her strong swimming of late with the first place finish in the 100 backstroke, touching in at 56.83.
Jonathan Rom joined in on the first place finishes with his time of 56.37 in the 100 breaststroke.
Mohamed Mohamady had a strong day with a 200 freestyle time of 1:41.20 in the 200 freestyle.
Sam Jennings placed in the 100 backstroke with a time of 51.12.
Some of the team will return to California next week for the MPSF Open Water competition while the rest of the team will be back in action to go to Air Force on Nov. 3.

Friday
The Grand Canyon swimming and diving team completed the first of a two-day meet Friday with women's relay success against WAC opponents California Baptist and Seattle U.
The GCU women started the competition with the 200-yard medley relay getting the win with a team of graduate student
Briana Rittenbach, senior
Raphaela Nakashima, sophomore
Paula Martinez Moreno and junior
Maria Brunlehner. The team went 1 minute, 44.22 seconds, which was two seconds faster than the second-place team.
The women went one-two-three in the 400 individual medley with junior
Aleksandra Wegrzynowska (4:31.95), sophomroe
Elisa Corradi (4:36.48), and junior
Fruzsi Macsok (4:41.93).
The women's strong day continued with Rittenbach and Brunlehner taking first and third in the 100 freestyle with times of 52.65 and 53.52, respecitvely.
The Spanish duo of Martinez Moreno (2:05.34) and sophomore
Marta Guasp Bauza (2:07.92) went first and second in the 200 backstroke.
Sophomore
Jonathan Rom placed second in the 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:03.90.
Nakashima and Corradi took first and second place in the 200 breaststroke with great early-season times of 2:21.82 and 2:22.73.
Sophomore
Mohamed Mohamady took second place in the 200 backstroke. The Egyptian went 1:48.56.
To close Day 1, the women's 400 freestyle relay of Rittenbach, freshman
Bailey Gott, junior
Maria Chatzi and Brunlehner went 3:31.15.
The team will get back to action Saturday at 11 a.m.
