Day 1 recap
Flynn impressed in GCU's first outing in Idaho last week. One week later, the Lopes freshman etched her name in the school's record book.
As a team, GCU enters Tuesday's final round of the 11-team Colonel Wollenberg Ptarmigan Ram Classic in fourth place. With Flynn finishing the opening day in second place, the Lopes tallied a 36-hole score of 4 under par and sit four strokes back from Cal Poly for third place.
Flynn, a native of Truckee, California, opened her first round on hole No. 2 with a birdie. Through nine holes, Flynn was 3 under and in the top five before a surge of birdies in the back nine ensued, including four in six holes. Her 7-under first round of 65 tied
Alexis Linam's GCU record, which was set April 2, 2019, in the Fresno State Classic.
Flynn shot an even-par 72 in the second round, totaling a 137 for the GCU 36-hole score record. She finished one stroke better than the previous mark shared by Linam (2019-20), Charlotte Jaengkit (2014-15 twice) and Deanna Salvatori's (2017-18).
Tschetter jumped from 22nd to a 14th-place tie after a 2-under second round. Tschetter was 1 over after 18 holes and registered six birdies in the second round to place second for the Lopes.
Guerrero is tied for 22nd with a combined 1-over score (72-73) while Luafalealo bounced back from a first-round 76 and carded a second-round 72, going 4 over to be in a tie for 29th. Belmonte is tied for 50th with a two-round score of 10 over.
The Lopes conclude the Colonel Wollenberg Ptarmigan Ram Classic on Tuesday, when play begins at 9 a.m.
