The Grand Canyon track and field team set a program record by qualifying 16 student-athletes for this week's NCAA West Preliminary Rounds in Fayetteville, Arkansas.
The Lopes contingent is an even split between men's and women's team members. They are competing at Arkansas' John McDonnell Field from Wednesday to Saturday. Each event's top 12 finishers will qualify for the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships on June 8-11 in Eugene, Oregon.
The GCU qualifiers include:
- Anaya Bailey, junior, 400-meter run
- Gabriel Binion, sophomore, long jump and triple jump
- Taryn Burkett, freshman, triple jump
- Eric Cabais-Fernandez, freshman, pole vault
- Kyle De Moica, junior, 400-meter relay
- Aidan Diggs, junior, 400-meter relay
- Marten Gasparini, sophomore, javelin
- Alexa Hokanson, senior, 800-meter run
- Adam Knuff, junior, 400-meter relay
- Jacob Lewis, junior, 1,500-meter run
- Samaria McDonald, junior, hammer throw
- Kelly Moodry, junior, 800-meter run
- Nebtom N'Da, freshman, long jump
- Paris Smith, junior, 400-meter relay
- Alyson Schwartz, senior, pole vault
- Jazmine Scott, freshman, triple jump
