After a few weeks off the Grand Canyon men's golf team is back in action as they take on the Desert Mountain Intercollegiate hosted at Desert Mountain, Outlaw Course in Scottdale, Arizona. The intercollegiate is hosted by Michigan.
THREE THINGS TO KNOW
- SIX LOPES: Five Lopes will travel to compete in the invitational. That quintet include freshmen Matteo Cristoni and Nicky Kling, sophomores  Sam Murphy , juniors Matthew Braley and Tim Nielson, and graduate student Zac Owens. Nielson will be playing as an individual for the Lopes.
- 3 POWER FIVES:Â The Lopes will have on three power-five teams in the 15-team intercollegiate. Â
- HOME AWAY FROM HOME: The Lopes head to their second competition of the season just down the road in Scottsdale.
DESERT MOUNTAIN INTERCOLLEGIATE
The tournament's field includes host Michigan, Arkansas Little Rock, Arkansas State, Coastal Carolina, Lipscomb, Louisiana Monroe, Mississippi State, Nebraska, Northern Illinois, Santa Clara, South Dakota State, Southern Illinois, UAB, and UTEP. Â All 15 teams in the field, playing 54 holes over the two-day tournament. Day one will consist of 36 holes of stroke play, followed by a final 18 on day two. The Outlaw Course will be set up for a par 72 and 7,107 yards. Scoring will be five players, count the low four scores.

LAST TIME OUTÂ
GCU finished tie for seventh place at the 45th John Burns Intercollegiate at the Hokaula Golf Course. GCU juniorÂ
Matthew Braley was the sole Lopes player to finish in the top 20 after shooting 6 under par in his final round at the tournament on Sunday. Braley moved up 43 spots to finish tied for 17th with a final score of 2 under par. Finishing the John Burns Intercollegiate tied for 28th was graduateÂ
Zac Owens, who shot 2 over par in his final round and finished 1 over par in the three-round tournament. Lopes freshmanÂ
Matteo Cristoni tied for 33rd after having his worst round of the weekend in his final round. Cristoni closed at 2 over par. Fellow freshmanÂ
Sam Murphy moved up 11 spots to finish tied for 58th after shooting 2 over par in his final round. The final Lopes player at the Hokaula Ocean Course wasÂ
Craig Passmore, who ended the weekend 11 over par.

The Lopes will host the GCU Invitational on March 14-15 at the GCU Golf Course.
