GCU will honor 12 seniors during dual meet with UNLV

Grand Canyon swimming and diving conclude its regular season with men's and women's dual meets against UNLV on Saturday, when the action will start at 11 a.m. (Phoenix time) at Fr. Edward A. Reese Aquatic Center.

GCU will honor 12 seniors in its program – Claire Banic, Hannah Barker, Robyn Edwards, Lizzy Mcknight, Kristina Miletic, Nicole Yeakley, Alonso Carazo Barbero, Adrian Curbelo Tejera, Kainan De Jesus, Dylan Nasser, Mazen Shoukri and Dawson Sloan.

LAST TIME OUT
GCU split a pair of dual meets at California Baptist on Jan. 22. The women extended their win streak to five with a 163.5-132.5 victory, while the men fell short, 183.5-115.5, versus the Lancers. The women won seven individual events. Despite the men's team not having the strength of a full roster, GCU pulled off some impressive wins against the Lancers.

SCOUTING
Rebels: UNLV swept Hawai'i and Wyoming in double dual meet in Las Vegas. The teams won 12 more events to earn the victory. The Rebels are led by Ben Loorz, who became the fifth head coach at UNLV in 2016. The divers are led by head coach Alik Sarkisian, who is in his second year with the Rebels. Sarkinsan spent the last 13 years as head coach for Northwestern.

SERIES HISTORY
UNLV holds a 3-1 advantage over GCU after their first matchup in the 2016-17 season. The last time the Lopes and Rebels dueled was Feb. 20, 2020, when the women lost 187-112 and the men fell 187-107 in Las Vegas.

DIRECTIONS & PARKING
Fr. Edward Reese Aquatic Center is located at Brophy College Preparatory at 4701 N. Central Ave. in Phoenix. The pool is on the east side of campus with parking on the south side. Please park and enter the facility from the south parking lot on the Brophy campus. Enter the campus from the Central Avenue/Highland Avenue entrance. Please do not use the 7th Street entrance for Xavier College Preparatory.

Spectators will be permitted, and masks are recommended, but not required. All spectators must remain in the bleachers.
