The Grand Canyon track and field team will head back to Albuquerque, New Mexico, to compete there for the second straight weekend in the New Mexico Team Open.
"We are thrilled to be heading back to Albuquerque again this weekend for the UNM Team Open." GCU head coach
Tom Flood said.
The trip will be the second in two weeks to Albuquerque, where the Lopes hope to continue to their impressive start to the season.
"While some athletes will be training through this meet and running off events, we hope to see continued improvement in every event," Flood said.
The Lopes will also send senior thrower
Israel Oloyede to the Texas Tech Open, where he will compete against top NCAA competition in the NCAA.
"We will also be sending
Israel Oloyede off to the Texas Tech in Lubbock this weekend to see if he can improve on his might heave from last week in Albuquerque," Flood said, referring to Oloyede's national season-best weight throw.
GCU filled the stat sheet last weekend by breaking five school records. They will look to continue that this weekend by gaining some athletes back off from injuries and healthy and safety protocols.
"We are excited to have a few more athletes able to compete in this meet that have been out for a while," Flood said.
